I always knew I wanted to work in a business related role but I just didn’t have enough experience to get the job I wanted.
My careers adviser mentioned that an apprenticeship could be a way to gain experience by learning on the job while earning a wage. Not to mention gaining a qualification too.
I researched and found a business admin apprenticeship which gave me experience in lots of different business areas. That’s how I discovered a real passion for marketing.
Once I completed the first apprenticeship, I stayed with the company and they put me onto a digital marketing apprenticeship to develop specialist skills like blog writing and video editing.
My employer gave me the time to study then I practiced the skills first hand in a real work setting.
It was a juggle at times and I had to work hard but the rewards were worth it.
Since completing this apprenticeship I’ve been promoted to a digital marketing executive and worked on projects like organising online events for National Apprenticeship Week.
I am much more confident now and would like to do a degree level apprenticeship. One day, I hope to be a freelance marketing executive.
