T Levels are currently only offered to 16-18 year olds. 5 GCSEs (9-4) including English Language, and Maths. Students with a Distinction in a relevant Level 2 qualification will be considered. An interview.
Students will develop a broad understanding of the creative industries and the skills needed to succeed within them. Core learning covers the creative economy, the role of the individual in creative industries, and cultural context, including relevant vocabulary. Learners will explore audience and consumer needs, legal and regulatory requirements, and professional standards and conduct in the workplace. The course also emphasises equality, diversity and inclusion, research skills, project methodology and administration, and continued professional development, equipping students with the tools to work effectively and ethically in a professional setting. Alongside the core content, students will complete at least one module of occupation-specific learning. This T Level specialises in content creation production, allowing learners to develop practical, industry-relevant skills in creating and managing creative content for various media, preparing them for employment or further study in the creative sector.
This qualification is structured into two main components: the core component and the occupational specialism. Core covers key concepts, theories and skills relevant to the sector, while the occupational specialism focuses on the knowledge and practical skills for a specific career area. Assessment includes a mix of internal coursework and external exams. Students will also complete an industry placement, gaining valuable workplace experience and developing skills needed for employment.
Assessment is split into two parts. The core component is assessed through two written exams (Paper A and Paper B) and an Employer-Set Project, with results combined to give an overall grade (A*–E or U). Students must complete all elements to receive a grade. The occupational specialism is assessed through synoptic assignments and graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. A U grade is awarded if minimum standards are not met.
Students can progress to media-related higher education courses, higher apprenticeships, or a variety of university programmes. The qualification carries UCAS points This course prepares students for employment across a wide range of media roles such as audio-visual/TV/film sound technician, production assistant, assistant director, director, producer, media researcher, video editor, social media and digital marketing, broadcast engineer, camera operator and others.
