For those age 16+. No previous horse care experience required. Candidates must have a keen interest in horse care. Riding and non-riding options maximum weight limit of 13 stone for riders.
Course Units • Putting on and taking off horse rugs under direction, Leading and controlling a horse for inspection under direction, Maintaining good working relations with others, Maintaining health and safety in the workplace, Feeding and watering horses under direction, Cleaning the stables and yard under direction, Grooming horses under direction, Understanding horse behaviour and methods of identification
Classroom Based for 1 academic year starting September each year
Riding equipment including jodphurs (black or navy), boots, riding hat. Body protectors are provided by the college.
The opportunity to progress to level 2 Diploma in workbased Horse Care
