You will need five GCSEs at grades 4-9, or equivalent (including English, maths and science).This full-time course is designed for young people aged 16-18 (or up to 24 if supported with an EHCP).

The Level 2 Diploma in Maritime Defence (Foundation Knowledge) prepares you to travel the world as an engineer onboard ships. This could be with the Royal Navy or in the commercial sector (i.e. RFA, cruise ships, container ships, research vessels, oil and gas ships or super yachts).The course is theory based and has a heavy electrical/electronic emphasis in keeping with the industry shift toward greener technologies. During your time studying you will develop a variety of skills through industry

Once completed you may be able to progress into a cadetship or employment, especially within maritime defence including Royal Navy and companies such as BAE Systems.You can also progress into a relevant apprenticeship.
