Higher National Certificates are specialist programmes linked to professional body requirements and national occupational standards where appropriate, with a strong work-related emphasis. This qualification builds a strong foundation in the key concepts and practical skills required by employers in the civil engineering/ construction sector. Students will gain both a practical and theoretical understanding of the scientific, mathematical and design principles that will help them progress to professional and management roles in the industry. The following modules will be studied throughout the course: Core modules: Unit 4 - Construction Environment  Unit 8 - Mathematics for Construction Unit 6 - Digital Application for Construction Unit 3 - Science & Materials  Unit 7 - Surveying, Measurement & Setting Out Unit 17 - Civil Engineering Technology Unit 19 - Principles of Structural Analysis & Design Unit 1 - Construction Design Project Modules are subject to change depending on curriculum updates, staffing availability, and industry or awarding-body requirements Typical lessons will involve research-based activities, individual and group projects, practical exercises and presentations You will be taught in small groups rather than as part of a large lecture audience.
