Learners need to be at least 16 years old in employment as a trainee dental nurse for a minimum of 16 hours per week. You will require GCSEs at grade A*- C/9-4 including English or successful completion of a Level 2 qualification at a high grade. You will need to undertake an interview in college demonstrating interest and commitment to study. This qualification focuses on direct chair-side work and support during a range of dental treatments. It encompasses the underpinning ethics, professionalism, teamwork and communication required to work as a Dental Nurse. Methods of teaching will include lectures, small and large group work and independent research, demonstration of practical skills in our mock surgery as well as experience in the workplace.
Completion of this qualification will enable learners to register with the General Dental Council and find employment as a Dental Nurse.
