This is a level 5 course consisting of a 2 year, 10 unit level 4 HNC Diploma followed by a 1 year, 6 unit level 5 top up to HND. In the first two years the qualification is mainly at level 4, with some units at Level 5. Year 3 consists of 1 level 4 unit and 5 level 5 units. Students will be expected to combine learning from different areas using research to formulate their ideas and demonstrate their knowledge and understanding in written assignments. Assignments must be logically designed and demonstrate a good use of English grammar and punctuation and referenced throughout. Further information about the units can be found on the supplementary sheets attached. All units are assessed by student assignments and graded at Pass, Merit and Distinction. There will be no examinations.

It is essential that learners coming onto the course can work at Level 3 in Mathematics. They must also understand how the teaching and learning will differ at this level compared to lower level courses and what is expected of them. Therefore it is a course requirement that all learners undertake a diagnostic Maths assessment, and attend an entry interview prior to acceptance onto the course.
All units are assessed by student assignments and graded at Pass, Merit and Distinction.
