At least 5 GCSEs graded 9-4 including English and 5/5 or above in Double Award Science and 5 or above in Maths.
You will study units on Engineering Principles. Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team and Engineering Product Design and Manufacture as well as other units which may include a Specialist Engineering Project and Manufacturing Secondary Processes. The course covers the theory of engineering principles including relevant maths and physics. Within some of the units there is practical work involving CAD and machining in the workshop.
The course is partly assessed via exams and part coursework. For the single A Level equivalent course, the Extended Certificate it is 67% externally assessed. The 2 A Level Diploma course is 33% externally assessed.
Students completing this course are able to progress on to study Engineering at university (A Level Maths may be required alongside), go on to a higher-level apprenticeship or go into employment.
