Trainees should have a minimum in one of the following: N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification; N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Domestic Installation) or equivalent earlier certification; N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Industrial and Commercial Installation) or equivalent earlier certification; N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Oil-Fired Technical Services or equivalent earlier certification.

The course is assessed through a combination of practical and written tasks.

Students will need to provide their own stationery. All other items will be provided by B&FC.

Most courses are assessed via a combination of coursework, exams and practical assessments. Exams are formal, timed written assessments, carried out in a controlled environment and overseen by one or more invigilators. Coursework differs from exams in that it is usually non-timed and carried out independently. Practical assessments involve observation of your practical skills and competencies by a trained assessor.
