Help and support

If you need some help, there are options available to you. 

If you’re under 18

If you’re in school, sixth form or college, or you’re in training such as an apprenticeship, you can:

  • contact the careers adviser at your school, college or provider
  • speak to another member of staff where you study or train
  • contact your local authority to see if they offer careers support
  • if you have not already, speak to a parent, guardian or family member

If you’re not in school or training

If you’re under 18 but not currently working or attending school, sixth form, college or doing training such as an apprenticeship, you can:

  • contact a careers adviser from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
  • if you have not already, speak to a parent, guardian or family member

If you’re 18 or older

If you’re aged 18 or older and live in England, you can contact a careers adviser through the DWP Jobs and Careers Service.

If you'd prefer, you can call 0800 072 0288 to speak to a DWP careers adviser.

Phone lines are open 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. They're closed on weekends and bank holidays.

Calls are free from landlines and most mobile numbers. Please check for possible call charges and freephone numbers.
