A Level Business is useful for a range of careers, as it is a subject which covers a wide variety of topics, including marketing and finance. It also gives you the opportunity to start using skills within the classroom straight into the working world be it a part-time job or your own business. PLEASE NOTE this course is part of a full-time study programme only available for School Leavers (students aged 16-18).

You'll develop a range of skills covering the following subject areas: Marketing and people including: Meeting customer needs The market Marketing mix and strategy Managing people Entrepreneurs and leaders Managing business activities including: Raising finance Financial planning Managing finance Resource management External influences Business decisions and strategy including: Business objectives and strategy Business growth Decision-making techniques Influences on business decisions Assessing competitiveness Managing change Global business including: Globalisation Global markets and business expansion Global marketing Global industries and companies (multinational corporations)
The learning process will be varied, ranging from lecturers, through student-centred activities, individual and group work. You’ll also be expected to conduct at least four hours of reading and independent study outside of lessons and complete regular homework tasks.
Assessment is by external examination. To achieve the full A Level in Business you will need to complete three externally assessed exams at the end of the second year. Progression is carefully monitored through combined student/teacher assessment, homework assignments and examination practice.
The majority of students progress to university degrees in a wide range of subjects such as Business Studies, Business Management, or a combined degree with Marketing or Economics.
Business will open your eyes to a wide range of job opportunities ranging from finance to marketing to management, whether you undertake a course at university or go straight into the work environment.
