Learners must be at least 18 years old. No prior qualifications are required, though a relevant Level 3 may help. Learners should have the capability to meet learning outcomes and the necessary literacy, numeracy, and health and safety requirements. They should not take another similar qualification at the same level at the same time, as this may affect funding eligibility.
The qualification is made of six mandatory units, each focusing on a different critical area of cyber security. Students learn through a blend of teaching and real-world-style tasks, supported by: • Structured classroom or lab time (510 hours guided learning) • Simulated or real-work environments for practical experience • Task-based assessments that mirror real job scenarios • Building a portfolio of evidence to show their competence • Focus not only on technical knowledge but also on professional behaviours
