NVQ Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering

This qualification is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). It involves the skills and knowledge for different welding processes. NVQs are based on national occupational standards, which the learner must meet to be competent in a particular task. The achievement of NVQs will encourage an employee to value their contribution in their workplace. It will enable them to demonstrate they have a nationally recognised level of competence when carrying out welding processes.

Must be carrying out welding tasks in their workplace.

The qualification consists of three mandatory units i) Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements ii) Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation and iii) Working efficiently and effectively in engineering. Plus, a set of units applicable to each specific welding process. These welding processes include manual metal arc, MIG/MAG, TIG, manual oxy/fuel gas welding.

You will be supported by a Training Officer who will visit you in your workplace on a regular basis to guide you through the written knowledge questions and competence assessments required to achieve the qualification.

A qualification portfolio will be supplied in either a paper or electronic format. The learner, guided by their allocated Training Officer selects the format most appropriate for them and their work environment.

Assessment of knowledge is via written responses for questions in each of the qualification units. These responses are reviewed by your allocated Training Officer. The competence aspect of the qualification is assessed via various sources of evidence that demonstrate you are able to successfully complete tasks appropriate to the units in the qualification. Sources of evidence include direct observations by you allocated Training Officer, witness testimonies and reports.

This qualification can be used to demonstrate to employers that you are able to successfully complete welding processes.
