Beauty Therapy

Want a practical start in beauty with real salon experience? You will train in purpose-built salons with industry professionals and build confidence by practising on peers before progressing to paying clients. Reception and retail experience also helps you develop the customer skills employers look for.

Entry requirements for external applicants and school leavers • Three or more GCSEs at grade 3 or above, or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification and this must include GCSE English or maths grade 3 or equivalent. You will be learning in our purpose-built salons, training in a commercial environment and learning beauty therapy techniques from industry professionals. They will demonstrate everything that you need to know and you will then practice the skills that you have been shown on fellow colleagues. Eventually, you will be providing treatments to paying clients. From facials, pedicure, manicure, waxing, make up, eye lash and brow treatments, you will be trained to industry standards. You will also have the opportunity to develop your work-based skills, working on the salon reception, promoting products and practicing retail services. Regular tutorials and demonstrations from teaching staff will embed your knowledge, giving you the confidence to practice beauty therapy in paid employment.

You will be assessed through either written assignments or online multiple choice questions, as well as practical assessment on customers in our commercial salons that are open to the public.

Once you have completed the Beauty Therapy Level 2 course, you will have an essential understanding of the beauty industry and be ready to move on to the more advanced Level 3 courses. It is always an advantage to offer as many different treatments as possible to your clients, so once you have achieved Beauty Therapy Level 2, we would recommend that you enhance your knowledge base and develop your skills by progressing on to the Advanced Beauty & Spa Therapies Diploma Level 3 course at Cornw
