This Preparing for Working Life course aims to help young people with learning disabilities make a successful transition from education to adulthood, with an additional focus on developing work ready skills for a customer services role. You will develop effective communication skills to manage customer relationships, and to deal with customer queries and complaints. Developed to support young people, each bespoke programme is designed to meet the individual needs of a student. Experienced teachers will consistently measure and provide evidence to ensure each student takes the appropriate next steps in their journey. Each student will also receive excellent additional classroom support. You will work towards developing your maths and English skills, as well as skills for living an independent life.

This course aims to provide you with opportunities to develop a range of transferable skills to prepare you for a customer services role. You will complete a bespoke enrichment programme that will broaden your skills and build your confidence and resilience. You will also get involved in enterprise activities, and will choose an enrichment activity that supports your personal, physical and mental growth. You will be encouraged to say yes to exciting opportunities, such as entering the Inclusive World Skills competitions.

You will receive individual guidance for your next steps. Natural progression options include progressing to Level 2 in Customer Services, an industry specific Level 1 course or supported to transition into employment.
