This course is intended for those who want to progress directly to employment in an assistant coaching role. It is also suitable for those wishing to progress to Higher Education, where students would have the added advantage of using it to obtain part-time employment.

Cost description | Additional sporting experiences including: first aid, coaching badges, trips and activities. There is a compulsory sports kit that students will be expected to wear in all lessons. |

At least 4-5 GCSEs graded 9-4, including English or Maths.
Each unit is related to the sporting interests of the group wherever possible and adapted to be as practical as possible. Units will be selected from core units and specialist units. Some of the units are: Careers in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry Health, Wellbeing and Sport Developing Coaching Skills Applied Coaching Skills Sport Development Self-employment in Sport and Physical Activity Sports Injuries Fitness Training Anatomy and Physiology Sports Psychology Sports Nutrition
Assessment is completed using internally assessed assignment work focussing on specific tasks relating to each unit. There are no exams within this course. Students are expected to undertake independent learning outside of lessons throughout the course to aid their academic development.
Progress directly to employment in the coaching and development sector as a coach, additionally, the breadth of optional content in this qualification allows students to widen their opportunities to progress to a number of different Higher Education courses.
