This course is aimed at anyone interested in Art & Design to provide students with an interest in art and design with the opportunity to explore the materials, methods and processes that support art and design activities, and develop related technical skills, knowledge and behaviour, that links closely to the creative industries. The qualifications draw upon established approaches to teaching, learning and assessment that are successfully proven to appeal to and engage students seeking practical study over a more academic study route. The qualification structure provides a linked introduction to the broad context within which art and design activity sits. Key features of this course include; student centred, no exams, multidisciplinary practice, with a highly practical and holistic approach to assessment.

4 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) and above, including English (if you dont have Maths, you will be required to study for GCSE Maths alongside the qualification, or Level 1 Pathways with Maths and English at grade 3 (D) or Functional Skills Level 2. Understand how the course will be delivered.

You will learn through a variety of methods including workshop-based learning, creative and live projects, tutorials, peer and self-assessment, discussion, questioning, research, presentations and reflection. All work will be completed and presented to a high standard through the course. You will be expected to manage your workload through homework and exploring concepts independently.

All evidence produced for assessment is based on practical portfolios of work. making the assessment process simple and clear. All work is internally assessed and externally moderated. Units 3-7 of the course u are assessed is graded using pass / failure. Unit 8 as assessed as pass, merit, Distinction

here is the option to progress onto Level 3 courses if you achieve a minimum of a Merit along with a 4 (C) in both GCSE Maths and English. There is also the opportunity to enter employment or to take up an Apprenticeship on successful completion of the course.
