This course is designed for those who want to gain a Farriery Apprenticeship. You will develop forging, horse care and other skills needed to be useful to an Approved Training Farrier (ATF). This is a one-year, full time course, where you spend four days a week at College. A block of three weeks industrial experience with an ATF is included.

Undertake Work Related Experience in the Land-based Industries Carry out and Undertake the Principles of Feeding and Watering Undertake Stable Duties Undertake Horse Handling Fit and Maintain Horse Tack and Clothing Introduction to Keeping Horses at Grass Introduction to the Principles of Horse Behaviour Understand the Principles of Horse Biology NPTC Level 2 Certificate in Forge Work
Assessment is continuous and involves practical tasks, industrial placement, assignments and written tests, as well as the NPTC forging exam and Functional Skills exam.
