You will collaborate in creating a new dance piece, understanding its close connection to the complex rhythmic patterns (the comps) as well as a more personal relationship to the choreography. Identify, describe and demonstrate different sections of a typical Flamenco song and dance piece Select the appropriate type of step or move according to which section of the flamenco song is being responded to Begin to create your own choreography Perform a section or two of the devised dance piece with a sense of ownership of the choreography Experience the general benefits of dance which can include; improved fitness & flexibility, raised spirits, enhanced well-being and the ability to focus & concentrate.
This is a practical and dynamic dance class. You will be taught through demonstration, copying, correction, discussion, repetition and revision. You will work as a whole group as well as practising and demonstrating in class in small groups and in pairs. To consolidate learning you will be encouraged to make notes and / or record tutor demonstrations to support optional home practise. You will receive hand-outs as well as music and practise videos via a Google Classroom.
No additional costs however we recommend you bring a folder, notebook, pen and bottled water. Women: Flamenco dance shoes; flamenco skirt (optional); leotards / T-shirts recommended - No baggy sweatshirts etc. Men: Flamenco boots; comfortable trousers and a waistcoat.
