If you are curious about how structures are made, then a career in civil engineering could be for you. Buildings, roads and bridges have all been designed, built and maintained by construction and civil engineering professionals. Careers in the civil engineering industry can be very rewarding. With hard work and dedication there are many progression routes for those who want a career in this rewarding and diverse sector. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed for an exciting career in the Construction industry. Careers include: building surveying, quantity surveying, site management and architecture. On completion of the course, you can progress on to university level courses in Construction or employment.

A minimum of 5 A*-C / 9-4 GCSE subjects or equivalent including maths or English. Relevant experience will be taken into account.

You will cover a range of topics to help you progress to the technical areas of construction employment. Topics include: design, resources, construction technology and material specification. Practical work includes: lab work, setting out, drawing, land surveying, computer aided design and IT application. You will also develop a higher level of maths through the Advanced Maths unit. And valuable work experience also forms part of the course.

Assessment is through assignments and coursework. Each unit has a separate outcome of pass, merit or distinction.
