FD in Sports Coaching

This programme explores the core theories, practices and professional skills required to become an effective and reflective sports coach across a range of community and performance environments. You will study key areas including coaching theory, coaching practice, coaching science, community health and social issues, academic and professional skills, contemporary developments in sports coaching, skill acquisition and research methods. A central part of the programme is the Community Coaching Placement, which allows you to apply your learning in real-world settings, work with participants of different ages and abilities, and develop practical coaching competence. Learning blends classroom teaching with practical coaching experience, allowing you to apply theory in real coaching contexts. As the programme progresses, you will refine your coaching approach, develop your analytical and communication skills, and build the confidence needed to support and motivate athletes of all ages and abilities.

Applicants should hold a minimum of 80 UCAS points from A Levels, Level 3 Diplomas, a combination of Level 3 Certificates, or an Access to HE Diploma.

A Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching.

Level Four Modules: Introduction to Coaching Theory, Introduction to Community Health and Social Issues, Academic and Professional Skills, Introduction to Coaching Practice

A range of practical clothing will be required and basic stationery such as a pen, ring binder and notepad.

Many graduates continue to study with us for one further year, by progressing onto our one-year Full Time / two-year Part Time BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching Top-Up. Graduates may also progress into roles such as a Sports Coach, Performance Analyst, Community Sport Officer, Talent Development Coach or PE Assistant / PE Teacher.
