CELTA stands for Certificate in Language Teaching to Speakers of Other Languages'. This face-to-face course is designed to enable you to teach English as a second or foreign language in the UK or anywhere in the world. You do not need to have any previous teaching experience. In this introductory course, you will acquire essential subject knowledge and a range of practical skills and techniques for teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. The CELTA is widely recognised and is a level 5 qualification on the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework). It follows the University of Cambridge English approved CELTA syllabus. This is an intensive 4-week programme with classes held every day, Monday to Friday from 09:00 16:35.

This course is aimed at adults aged 20+. You will need to have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education and an English level of C2 on the CFR. This course has 5 units and will cover the following areas: - Learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context - Language analysis and awareness - Language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing - Lesson planning, resources and materials - Developing teaching skills and professionalism

Understand how the course will be delivered.

The course consists of a minimum of 120 contact hours and is very practical. The Monday sessions focus on skills and methodology and the Wednesday sessions on Teaching Practice. Assessment is continuous and is integrated throughout the course. The two components of assessment are: Teaching Practice (6 hours of assessed Teaching Practice) and Written Assignments (4 assignments spread over the duration of the course)....- see website for more details
