Access to HE provides an alternative route to Higher Education for adult students (19+) who would like to progress to study at university, or who are looking to change career. This qualification can be studied full or part-time and is free for those aged 19-23 if it is their first full Level 3 qualification (2 A levels, 4 AS Levels or equivalent). Advanced Learner Loans are available to cover the cost of fees and will be written off if students go on to complete a degree.

None specifically needed, although it is useful if students have experienced working at Level 2 (e.g. GCSEs). Most universities expect students to have grade C or above in Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent). Screening will be arranged to ascertain if students will cope with level 3 work.
Students applying for an Access to HE Diploma in Primary Teaching can choose to study three subjects. You must study at least one of the following: Biology Chemistry Human Physiology Statistical and Mathematical Methods You may also choose from the following subjects: Creative Writing English Language & English Literature History Politics and International Relations Psychology Statistical and Mathematical Methods
You will need pens, paper and access to a computer.
Each subject will have 4 units that are all individually assessed. Some units have coursework, others have timed tests or examinations. You will also need to sit two exams at the end of the course.
You may apply for university entrance or gain a promotion at work. The course could also lead to a career change.
