We place emphasis on the individual, and encourage our students to use Textiles to explore their own interests and ideas, rather than set traditional projects. This is an exciting new course this year. You will be given one-to-one guidance to help you direct your studies in a purposeful way so that you achieve your potential at examination.

GCSE Textiles at grade 5 or above.
Project 1 “technical skills”. A skills-based project that explores a large range of skills, media techniques, ideas development and art history. Coursework project. An open choice practical project leading to a final piece and a written study on an Art related topic. Examination project. A practical project on a theme set by the exam board
You'll be working in the designated sixth form art area where you will have access to sewing machines and other equipment.
The course is a mix of coursework and one examination piece.
These courses lead to a degree and/or career in Textiles – fashion textiles, fashion design, fashion print, Media, Graphics, Illustration, Interior design, fashion business, marketing, stylist and teaching. Direct entry to History of Art, Museums and Galleries, Auctioneering and Architecture is possible. Textiles combine with virtually any other subject and forms a valuable complement to English, History and other A-Level Arts subjects.
