Guided by our expert lecturers you will learn how to make beautiful, hand-crafted wooden furniture using a variety of tools and technologies. You will cover modules including: Consolidating and applying a knowledge and understanding of health and safety within furniture making environments. Consolidating a knowledge and understanding of timber technology to enable sound judgements when working within the timber trade. Developing a knowledge and understanding of furniture construction methods to support furniture design and manufacturing processes. Developing the ITC skills and techniques required to produce basic geometric, pictorial and working drawings using computer programs. Developing the hand skills and techniques required to produce intermediate geometric, pictorial and working drawings. Developing a knowledge of the furniture design process and utilising (implementing) this to design basic furniture items. Manufacturing a range of intermediate items of furniture, using a range of hardwoods, fixtures and fittings. Making and attaching a range of doors, drawers and fittings. Guided by our expert lecturers you will learn how to make beautiful, hand-crafted wooden furniture using a variety of tools and technologies. You will cover modules including: Consolidating and applying a knowledge and understanding of health and safety within furniture making environments.

You could progress to a Level 3 Diploma in Furniture Design and Making. Alternatively, you could go into employment as a trainee furniture maker, furniture designer or wood machinist.
