This T Level is suitable for anyone wanting a career in construction, specifically in surveying and design or civil engineering. The T Level is a 2 year programme and will include a 9 week (minimum) industry placement and a Technical Qualification, where you will also choose your specialist occupation.

4 GCSEs (9-4) including grade 5 or above at English Language and Maths. You’ll also be required to participate in an Industry Placement as part of this qualification.

Core Content Within the core content of this course you will develop a general understanding of construction including: Health and safety The science behind building design, surveying and planning Making accurate and appropriate measurements Construction methods Building regulations and standards Data management and information standards in construction Relationship management and customer service How the Internet of Things (IoT) impacts construction Digital engineering techniques Mathematical techniques to solve construction problems Construction design principles and processes The construction industry and its role in the economy Sustainability and the environmental impact of construction Business, commerce and corporate social responsibility You will also learn about topics specific to design, surveying and planning, including: Project management Budgeting and resource allocation Procurement Risk management Occupational Specialism Content In addition to the core content, you will also undertake the occupational specialism content for Civil Engineering or Surveying and Design. Industry Placement You will also undertake 315 hours working with an employer on an Industry Placement. You’ll spend 80% of your time learning in our industry-standard facilities, and 20% gaining valuable experience on an industry placement.

Your core knowledge and skills will be assessed through exams and an employer-set project. You'll work with your tutor to decide when you're ready to be assessed on the core. Assessment of occupational specialist knowledge and skills will vary depending on the occupation. It may involve tests, practical assignments and projects. Your occupational specialist knowledge and skills will be assessed in the second year.
