This course is designed to further extend the knowledge and ability of students wishing to continue their study in vehicle mechanical maintenance and repair. The course is taught in our well equipped workshops and classrooms, it will involve completion of theoretical study using classroom delivery, assignments, phase tests and on-line multi-choice exams. The practical sessions require you to satisfy practical assessment criteria using pre-set tasks with the results recorded in a practical task workbook.

The units you will study are likely to include: Core units: Knowledge/Skills of routine light vehicle maintenance Knowledge/Skills of light vehicle engine mechanical, lubrication and cooling system units and components Knowledge/Skills of removing and replacing light vehicle electrical units and components Knowledge/Skills of removing and replacing light vehicle chassis units and components Knowledge/Skills of light transmission and driveline units and components Knowledge/Skills of light vehicle fuel, ignition, air and exhaust system units and components Knowledge/Skills of Health and safety Knowledge/Skills of Job Roles in the Automotive Enviroment Knowledge/Skills of Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices used in the Automotive Enviorment Specialist units: Skills of Removing and Replacing Heavy Transmission and Drive Line Units and Components

Understand how the course will be delivered.

A combination of theory lessons in the classroom and practical demonstrations, training and hands on experience within our state of the art vehicle workshops. You will usually be in college for 3 days per week.

You will be expected to provide overalls, safety boots or shoes, writing equipment and a folder for your work. You will be provided with a preferred Kit List that will assist you during your course. This kit will always belong to you is fully transferable to take with you in to employment.

There is continuous assessment of practical work throughout the course and end of unit written phase/on-line multi-choice examinations. Students will also need to produce a portfolio of evidence in the form of a folder of assessed college work gained over the year.
