Understand how the course will be delivered.

Teaching methods will include lectures, seminars, tutorials and guest speakers. You are taught by a team of dedicated staff with a range of expertise. Practical demonstrations are given in a training kitchen and you will prepare dishes and build an evidence based portfolio. Links with businesses are used to provide a strong practical base to the course. You are expected to commit approximately 15 hours a week to independent study in preparation for teaching sessions and assessments.

You will be assessed through coursework designed to provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to meet the learning outcomes of the programme. To support you, a variety of assessment methods are used to enhance the experience as well as to help you develop key transferable skills. If you are a part time student, you are supported to complete work based projects in your workplace.

Successful students may choose to progress to the BA (Hons) Culinary Arts or the BA (Hons) Hospitality Management, a one year top-up programme also delivered at the College, to gain a full honours degree award.
