This T Level is suitable for anyone wanting a career in IT, specifically in areas such as digital infrastructure and support. The T Level in Digital Support Services is a two-year programme designed to give you the knowledge and skills for a career in digital support. The course includes a 45-day (minimum) industry placement and a Technical Qualification, during which you will also choose your Occupational Specialism. You will also undertake an employer-set project as part of the course.

You will typically require a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including IT/Computer Science and GCSE English and maths at grade 4 or above. Alternatively, you will need a Merit grade or higher in Level 2 Extended Certificate/Diploma in Digital/IT/Computing, plus GCSE English and maths at grade 4 or above. You may also be required to participate in an entry assessment to determine suitability ahead of enrolment.

On this course, you will develop a general understanding of digital services, including: how digital technologies impact business and market environment; the ethical and moral implications of digital technology; using data in software design; using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems; digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud environments; legal and regulatory obligations relating to digital technologies; the privacy and confidentiality of personal data; the technical, physical and human aspects of internet security; planning digital projects; testing software, hardware and data; digital tools for project management and collaboration. In addition to the core content, each student will also complete at least one module of occupation-specific content in either Digital Infrastructure or Digital Support.

Your learning will combine classroom theory and practical learning and include 45 days (minimum) of industry placement in a digital support setting. Classroom learning will involve group work, practical sessions and theory learning, while the placement will provide you with real experience of the workplace. You will also undertake an employer-set project as part of your work placement.

Your core knowledge and skills will be assessed through exams and an employer-set project. You will work with your tutor to decide when you're ready to be assessed on the core content. Assessment of occupational specialist knowledge and skills will vary depending on the occupation. It may involve synoptic tests, practical assignments and employer-set projects. Your occupational specialist knowledge and skills will be assessed in the second year.
