Five GCSES, four at grade 4 including English, and one at grade 5 in maths. Alternatively, a level 2 academic route qualification.
Design and manufacture products in an engineering context. Use technology for computer aided design. Acquire knowledge of electronic devices and circuits. Measure electronics and test circuits. CNC (extended diploma). Weld (extended diploma). Understand programmable logic controllers (PLCs) (extended diploma).
After the foundation diploma, progression may include further study to gain the extended diploma, an advanced apprenticeship, a HNC/HND, Access to HE in Engineering, or relevant employment.
