The qualifications enable learners to develop the digital skills they need for life, work or further study as set out in the national standards for essential digital skills. At Level 1 the focus is primarily on digital skills for work with a secondary focus on digital skills for life. Many of the digital skills learners will acquire through these qualifications will be applicable in both life and work settings.

There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of level one in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
