The course enables learners to experience a range of relaxation techniques that prevent muscle tension and reduce stress; breathing techniques that increase lung capacity; and a variety of stretches, balances, sequences and movements that increase flexibility in joints and muscles, prevent stiffness, improve strength, muscle tone, and coordination. This course involves the practice of mindfulness and promotes health and well-being on a physical and emotional level. No but learners may choose to practice certain postures in order to improve flexibility etc. Relaxation techniques can help learners with sleeping difficulties. Handouts available

No, classes are suitable for everyone; exercises are adapted to individual levels of ability. For example, learners can sit in a chair rather than standing or lying down on the floor.

Yoga mat preferable (some spare mats available). Wear comfortable clothing and you may choose to bring a blanket and a small cushion

Postures are explained and demonstrated for learners to work on an individual basis. Learners are encouraged to go at their own pace and are given a choice of postures depending on level of ability. Some exercises are done in pairs and sometimes objects (balls, plates) are used to enhance stretches.
