ESOL

This course is for people whose first language is not English and who are eligible for funding.

A self-assessment of your English skills will be completed to see if this is the right course for you. To be eligible for the funded sessions, you must be 19 years or older and live within the local authority areas of St Helens, Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, or Wirral.

The courses cover: Speaking and Listening to communicate clearly Reading to gain essential information Writing so that meaning is clear Essential grammar, spelling and punctuation

You will learn in small classes where you can practise your skills with your teacher and other ESOL learners. Your teacher will check targets on your learning plan with you regularly to ensure you are making progress. When you are ready, you can sit an exam and gain a qualification.

You will have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) which will allow you to reflect on each session and let us know what went well and if you need more practice. Your tutor will also give you written and verbal feedback on your progress. Your teacher will check targets on your learning plan with you regularly to ensure you are making progress. You will be able to communicate more clearly, and with more confidence, in English. You might like to do more courses with ACL or with another provider.
