"Our Functional Skills English course is for anyone who needs to improve their English skills in their everyday lives and work or in order to gain access to further or higher education and employment. You will improve your reading, writing and speaking and listening skills. Entry Requirements You will need to complete an initial assessment before enrolling on this course to ensure you work towards the right level qualification for you. Your tutor will help you to set your own, individual learning goals that will support you towards achieving your qualification/course aims. You will work on the areas relevant to your own needs to achieve a Functional Skills English Qualification. You will improve your skills in the following areas: - Speaking, listening and communication: Take part in formal and informal discussions and give short presentations. - Reading: Compare, select, read and understand texts and use them to gather information, ideas, arguments and opinions. - Writing: Write documents to communicate information, ideas and opinions using formats suitable for their purpose and audience and developing correct use of spelling, punctuation and grammar.
