The course is for Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty or unemployed. This is an introductory course for people who want to learn gardening, wood working, recycling, upcycling, designing and building project skills. This course will provide an opportunity for you to engage with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths through practical hands-on garden, woodcraft and recycling projects. You will be introduced to Health & Safety, safe working practice and PPE. You will work as a team, developing communication and social skills to help you feel more confident using STEM and support your next step towards volunteering or work.

The course is delivered face-to-face. It will also give you the opportunity to develop your digital skills, learn with others and take part in sessions with your tutor.

At the start of your course the tutor will find out a little more about you, your previous learning, the support you may need, what you would like to achieve on the course and guide you to set some personal goals. During the course you will be asked to reflect on your learning at regular points and will receive feedback from your tutor on your progress and achievement. You will receive a personal certificate of achievement at the end of the course.

At the end of the course you will be given information and advice about other learning opportunities and local activities available to you both on-line and in your community. This may include other personal development skills, or further STEM courses.
