Functional Skills Mathematics will improve your job prospects and will be very important if you want to progress with your learning. These qualifications are designed to give learners the mathematics skills to function confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life. The will provide a strong foundation for further academic and vocational study and for employment, to support students to progress to a full range of courses in further and higher education. This includes GCSE Mathematics courses, as well as courses in other disciplines. If you are aged 19 or older and have not previously attained a GCSE grades A* to C in English and maths this course could be FREE. Please apply and you will be contacted with more information. The course duration is thirty-two weeks, comprising weekly one and a half hour sessions with the expectation of two hours independent study between sessions.

All students are required to carry out a pre-course assessment and short interview. Previous qualifications in mathematics will support the level of Functional Skills you work towards.

Edexcel Functional Skills Mathematics is a linear course, focused on the application of maths skills in everyday life.. . Assessment consists of an externally set and marked, 90 minute exam where the use of a calculator is permitted. The exam can be online or paper based.

Functional Skills Mathematics provides a strong foundation and will develop employability skills. It will prepare for further academic and vocational studies and can support progress to a full range of courses in further and higher education. This includes GCSE Mathematics courses, as well as courses in other vocational disciplines.
