2. Who this course is for
You will develop an understanding of key concepts relating to Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Through a range of experimental techniques you will continue to develop your practical skills, develop critical thinking skills and understand how to communicate scientific ideas and theories. The course will provide you with opportunities to explore some of the diverse occupations available in science such as those relating to the human body, the role of the research scientist and microbiologists in the biotechnology industries. You will study the following units: Unit 1: Key concepts in science Unit 2: Applied experimental techniques Unit 3: Science in the modern world Unit 4: The human body Unit 5: Investigating science Unit 6a: Microbiology
3. Entry requirements
Five GCSE Grade 4 to 9 including English and Maths. Students require a GCSE Grade 4 or above in Science.

All specialist textbooks, scientific papers and publications will be made available. You will need to have a scientific calculator and an internet enabled device such as a laptop or notebook. A range of trips are available throughout the course including Kew Gardens and Bristol University. A contribution towards the cost of travel will be required.
7. How you'll be assessed
You will sit two written exams in Year 12. One on Biology, Chemistry and Physics theory, the second will be pre-release material on science in the modern world. You will sit one exam in Year 13. You will also undertake and submit coursework which will contribute towards your final results.
