With conservation and animal welfare high on the worlds political agenda, a love of animals could be the foundation of an exciting and rewarding career. Those people who enjoy practical outdoor work and have already had some experience or interest in working in the Land Based Industries. Some work experience with animals will be beneficial. You will complete 7 units in 1 year, such as: •Undertake work experience in the Land-based Industries •Maintain Animal Health and Welfare •Maintain Animal Accommodation •Introduction to Animal Behaviour and Handling •Plan and monitor Animal Feeding •Understanding the principles of animal biology •Understand the Principles and Practices of Animal Establishments

The following will be considered at interview: •Level 1 Diploma in animal care •4 GCSEs at D grade (including English, maths & science) •Appropriate experience •NVQ2 in a Land Based subject

You will learn by completing practical projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations. The course will cover basic knowledge and important practical skills. You will also spend at least 1 day each week on work experience.
