You should have 4 GCSE grades 9-3 or A* - D for this course including Maths and English. It is also required that you produce a portfolio of photography.
The Level 2 Diploma in Photography gives you a deeper knowledge of a wide range of roles and opportunities for study at a higher level in the future. This is a wide scope photography course that allows you to develop skills in a wide range of different topics including Camera skills, Rules of Composition, Portraiture, Fashion, Documentary, Commercial and Location Shooting. It has been designed to provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to entry level roles or further study and training in a range of photography related subjects. It also introduces you to the diversity of roles and responsibilities in the photography sector and gives you the opportunity to explore the history and context of a variety of photography disciplines. Your areas of study will include: Exploring photographic equipment, techniques, materials and resources; Develop and adapt photographic ideas; Introduction to the photo imaging industry; Studio Photography; Location Photography; Commercial Photography; Documentary Photography; Final Major Project.
Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps & help you to achieve your goals. Personal Professional Development sessions (PPD) will teach you valuable skills. You will have a regular 1:1 appointment with professionals who will help you. You will have access to a wide range of employers to ensure you gain plenty of workplace experience. Careers Advice & Guidance is available throughout your time at CBC from our Advisors.
Coming to College is a full time commitment & you will need to ensure that you have factored in the cost of travelling to College & potentially to a local work placement. There are trips that will benefit your study experience & we endeavour to keep these as cost effective as possible. Students often choose to enhance their production work with additional props or costumes. Your own camera is also very useful to have but if you do not have one, don't worry you will be taught how to use ours.
Your assessments throughout this course will keep you on track to achieve; these could include group projects, assignment tasks and a portfolio of work to support your learning. Your year culminates in your Final Major Project which sees you specialising in an area of your choosing.
Upon completing your course, you have a great range of options available to help you continue your adventure. You may choose to continue your studies into a variety of different creative courses at Level 3 including Creative Media, Photography, Graphic Design or Animation. The course can also lead to successful careers in a wide variety of photography jobs.
