2. Who this course is for

If you are considering a career in the uniformed or emergency services, or have aspirations to work towards higher education studies and potential commissions in the armed services, this course is for you. Units include: * Career planning * Public service employment * Public service skills * Public service fitness * Land navigation * Crime and its effects Physical Training is a mandatory part of the course and is designed to help students increase their levels of fitness in order to ensure they have the ability to successfully pass a Uniformed Services fitness test. This will include: * Running * Circuit training * Fitness training in a weights room. There will also be many opportunities to participate in team activities. Other opportunities include: * Visiting service speakers * Visits to service establishments * Inter-group competitions A week's adventure training is held each year in places such as Wales. Students are encouraged to attend. Visits to Service Establishments include: * Local Fire Stations * Local Police Stations * Local Ambulance Stations * Police Firearms * Wymondham Police HQ * Colchester Garrison (Army) * Wayland Prison * RAF Marham * Commando Training Centre Royal Marines * HMS Bristol, Portsmouth and Belfast Exercises involving all students take part periodically at, for example: * RAF West Raynham * Thetford Forest Thorpe Woodland and local areas

3. Entry requirements

You will need: * 4 or more GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or higher * Grade 4 (C) in either English, Maths or Science Or: * A relevant Level 1 qualification, with good attendance and progress reviews. You will be invited to an interview to help us ensure the course is right for you.

7. How you'll be assessed

Assessment is based on continuous appraisal of performance in the various components. Course work execution, group work contribution and fulfilment of practical assignments. You will be assessed through a combination of theory and practical work - e.g. leadership, teamwork skills and drills.
