Who this course is for
This programme provides the knowledge and practical skills required for a career in the motorcycle industry. The programme is designed for young people seeking to enter a career in motorcycle maintenance. You will complete eight units for your main qualification consisting of; Working safely and effectively during Motorcycle maintenance and repair; Foundation skills for motorcycle maintenance and repair; Motorcycle construction and routine maintenance; Operating principles of Motorcycle tyres, brakes, steering and suspension systems; Operating principles of Motorcycle engines; Operating principles and maintenance of motorcycle transmission systems; Operating principles and maintenance of motorcycle electrical and electronic systems. You will also have the opportunity to study and gain a Functional Skills qualification in either Maths, English or ICT at the appropriate level.
Entry requirements
4 GCSE's Grade D (or equivalent) and achieve Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy as part of the initial assessment process, or Level 1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Motor Cycle route) with a positive tutor report. Your selection onto the programme will depend on a pre-programme assessment and interview.
What you'll need to bring
Requires Overalls, Steel toe capped boots and a memory stick.
How you'll be assessed
Each unit will be assessed through practical workshop tasks which will be presented in a portfolio, modular on-line assessment and a range of activities undertaken within your taught sessions.
