Study Programme - Fashion Textile Level 3

Level 3 is aimed at developing your artistic skills in fashion and textiles. Year 1 you will study towards the Diploma and explore a wide range of techniques, with the creation of textiles and fashion being central to every project. We also look closely at the work of others and strive to create exciting, experimental outcome that are supported by innovative sketchbooks. Year 2 you will progress to the Extended Diploma and focus on creating more specialist fashion and textile pieces. You will begin to work more independently, developing ideas of a more personal nature, the course culminates in a final self-initiated project and exhibition to showcase your collection of creative work. The course is aimed at anyone who has a creative mind, wants to develop their design knowledge and skills and has a real passion and desire to work in the creative industries. You will gain self confidence in your portfolio work and a range of personal skills, such as, working within a group, independence and advise on completing application forms for employment and university, you will be guided through interview processes this will equip you for applications and interviews at university, apprenticeships or employment. UAL Awarding body L1 (Art& Design) 3 GCSEs at grade 9-1 UAL Awarding body L2 (Art & Design) 3 GCSEs grade 9-3 including English or maths OR L1 Art & Design BTEC L3 Diploma in Art and design Practice ( Fashion Textile) 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4, including English or maths OR 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 and L2 in either English or maths OR Successful completion of L2 or equivalent at Merit grade, plus GCSE English or maths at grade 4 or L2 English or maths Plus, a portfolio of work

BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design Practice (Fashion Textiles) • Primary and secondary research • Basic garment construction • Draping and constructing on the stand • Printed and constructed textiles • Hand and machine embroidery • Surface pattern • Exploratory samples • Creative drawing and design work

The course will be delivered through a series of assignments and practical workshops, led by friendly, supportive and experienced staff. Level 3 students will have practical lessons taught in workshops and studios, where you will be introduced to new textile techniques, you will experiment with a variety of media and develop your skills and ideas in fashion and textile design.

You will be continually assessed by your tutors throughout the academic year, an external moderator will verify and confirm your final grades. Level 3 - Year 1 – will complete one module, A1 – skills development and A2 Creative Project, this will be internally assessed and graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction Year 2 – will complete a further module, B1– Personal Progression and B2 Creative Industry Response. Graded at a Pass, merit or Distinction.

On completion with the appropriate pass and English and maths grades you can progress through the levels.

This study programme offers progression to a variety of art-related courses. Our own Foundation Diploma in Art & Design is a recommended progression route, or you may wish to apply to a university. During the course we will explain all the possible options and support you through the application process.
