This intermediate course is ideal if you have some experience in cake decorating and wish to explore a range of techniques to develop your skills further. You will produce a highly impressive, professional looking cake at the end of the ten weeks. , , Please note, some items will be provided, however, you will need the following equipment:, A nylon 9� rolling pin, a smoother, a nylon board to work on (ideally a grooved veining board), a cake drum (at least 2� bigger than your cake) a craft frilling stick, cornflour, small scissors, plastic storage box and metal ball tool - medium and nozzles no.1 and no.1.5 or 2. Other equipment you may need will be advised by the tutor at the beginning of the course. You will also need to supply ingredients for making a cake and the decorations. This equipment will be enough for all three courses., , SEPTEMBER:, Create a festive gingerbread house cake from sugar paste. Use various forms of modelling to make sweets and candy canes. Learn to pipe in royal icing and make stained glass windows using rice paper. You will need to bring a fruit cake around week 3., , JANUARY:, Make a fully wired petal paste flower arrangement including roses, bower of beauty, other filler flowers and foliage suitable for a wedding cake. Add a sugar veil lace to decorate an iced cake. You will need a cake around week 7., , MAY:, Create a cake using paper quilling techniques in petal paste. Also incorporate ribbon roses in icing. We will explore hand painting on the cake too. A fruit or dummy cake would be best around week 2.
