2. Who this course is for

This course covers the basics of sewing and using a sewing machine. Its ideal for beginners. You will be taught how to change needles and presser feet, adjust tension, sew different stitches and more. You will have the opportunity to make something (for example a tote bag, bunting, cushion cover) if you wish. You will need to bring your own basic sewing kit and fabric as suggested below:(1) Fabric: Half a metre to a metre of cheap fabric (ideally cotton) is recommended, to experiment with, and to make a small item like a tote bag.(2) Basic threads: Just one spool of thread is essential (as well as a bobbin if you are bringing your own machine). Multiple colours are desirable if you would like to match your thread to your fabric(s). Any brand, although Gutermann is recommended. (3) Sewing tools: Fabric scissors are essential. Different sewing machine feet and/or needles are desirable if you'd like to learn about these. (4) Pattern: A pattern, template or printed tutorial is helpful if you'd like to make a basic bag, cushion cover or bunting, however this is not necessary as we can make do without. We won't have time to do much more elaborate creations.Tea/Coffee are available to make, with a small charge. Please bring your lunch. In order to reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles/cups, there is a watercooler on site making it easy to refill your water bottle.Free parking.
