The Access to HE Diploma will provide you with the equivalent of three A-Levels and the skills needed to apply for a Higher Education qualification. This course prepares you for academic study for a degree in nursing, midwifery, paramedics, or other related healthcare career pathways. The broad-based but relevant course content is designed to increase your knowledge and skills enabling you to return to study as a confident and independent learner. Cost description | The overall cost of this course is 3384. If you are age 19-23 WITHOUT a Level 3 qualification, the course will be free. If you are 24+, you can apply for an advanced learner loan. If you progress to a HE course, the loan will be written off. |

-Be able to demonstrate your ability and capacity to write at an appropriate level for your programme (identified additional learning needs that may impact written English skills will be taken into account). -Applications are welcome from people with a variety of qualifications, skills and experience and are individually assessed. -It is recommended (although not essential) that you have a GCSE grade C or above in Maths, English and Science.
The Access course will be delivered in a classroom at Ashton Sixth Form College.
You will complete assessments, and the course is mainly coursework-based and provide opportunities to become accustomed to a mixture of assignments such as essays, presentations, and reports. The Access to HE Diplomas is made up of 60 credits over 9 different units all aimed at helping you achieve your potential in HE. You must successfully achieve 60 credits to be awarded a Diploma with a grade of Pass, Merit, or Distinction.
The qualification also enables progression to a whole range of Level 4 programmes including higher apprenticeships. Access students can apply for a place at a Higher Education Institution using the usual UCAS application process with the majority successfully gaining a place onto a variety of health related degrees such as:
• Nursing
• Midwifery
• Other health-related degrees
