The HNC course is designed to provide the knowledge and understanding of how advanced and innovative engineering underpins the mechanical industries. Candidates applying for this course will need a relevant Level 3 qualification, which would usually be a BTEC National in Engineering or equivalent. Mature learners may present a more varied profile of previous achievement that may include substantial work experience within the engineering environment. Year One Units: Analytical Methods for Engineers Engineering Science Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation Design Engineering Year Two Units: Mechanical Principles Materials Engineering Applications of Pneumatics and Hydraulics Advanced Computer Aided Drawing Techniques The subject areas are assessed in a variety of ways including assignments, timed assessments and coursework.
