Applicants must have a genuine interest in working with people and have a caring personality. Students must have achieved 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above including English Language and Mathematics. Students progressing from an academic Level 1 course may also be considered for this programme. You must have Enhanced DBS clearance as you will be working with vulnerable adults and children during your placements.
The work is internally and externally assessed. Internal assessment is carried out via assignment based units, which will be marked by individual unit lecturers. External assessment is undertaken by completion of two examined units; these units are assessed by the awarding body. All units are graded to Pass, Merit or Distinction depending on quality and criteria achieved.
Students achieving merit grades may apply for a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma course in Health and Social Care at Havant & South Downs College. Alternatively, students can apply for jobs within the Health & Social Care sector.
