2. Course description

The course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the role of a peer mentor and the skills used in peer mentoring. In achieving the qualification, learners will have understood the aims of a peer mentoring programme and the codes of conduct, organisational and legal requirements to be followed by a peer mentor. Students will also acquire communication, planning and review skills necessary for peer mentoring.Peer mentoring aims to support individuals' goals in spheres such as health and wellbeing, managing money, dealing with bullying, or addressing offending behaviour. The course has been designed to be appropriate for peer mentoring which is to be delivered face to face, by phone or online.This course is suitable for students who wish to undertake peer mentoring in a supervised context, either as a paid role or as volunteers.The course covers the following units - Peer Mentoring Skills - Understand Peer Mentoring

3. Entry requirements

Candidates should be working at Level 2 or equivalent in English in order to be able to fully engage with the course content and to be able to complete the coursework.Prior to enrolling on the course, you will be asked to complete an Initial Assessment in order to demonstrate ability to complete academic work at Level 2.
