2. Course description
Health and Social Care can be studied as a single option which is equivalent to one A level, or a double option which is equivalent to two A levels. In Health and Social Care you will study various units allowing students to learn and debate current health care issues whilst producing their own reports observing, reflecting and comparing how service users access the health and social care services. Students will study a wide range of issues in a variety of real life contexts. Students considering professions in Health care, Paramedics, Social care, Teaching or Childcare sectors would benefit from this subject.
3. Entry requirements
5 GCSEs grade 9 to 4 or the BTEC equivalent and should include GCSE English Language at grade 4 or above. Previous study of Health and Social Care is advantageous but not essential.

5. Assessment method
The majority of the course is assessed by coursework assignments. There are up to 4 exam units which are externally assessed throughout the two years of the course depending on the type of course selected.
