2. Course description

Are you looking to work within the licensed retail sector? This qualification is aimed at anyone who wants to work in licensed premises where alcohol is sold. You will discover the personal licence holder's responsibilities while developing your knowledge and understanding of licensing authorities and areas such as police powers, rights of entry, strengths of alcoholic drinks, the responsible retail of alcohol, and how to protect children from harm. On completion of the course, you will be entitled to apply for a Personal Licence, the legal requirement for anyone who authorises the sale of alcohol to the public.

3. Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this course.

4. Equipment required

All the equipment and resources you need are provided by B&FC at no extra cost.

5. Assessment method

Most courses are assessed via a combination of coursework, exams and practical assessments. Exams are formal, timed written assessments, carried out in a controlled environment and overseen by one or more invigilators. Coursework differs from exams in that it is usually non-timed and carried out independently. Practical assessments involve observation of your practical skills and competencies by a trained assessor.
